borednerd asked: I've read the book twice actually. And to be honest I don't hate the swedish film, I liked it, didn't love it. Noomi Rapace was great, but when I saw the David Finchers version of the book I noticed it included a lot more details from the book, and I felt the actors were closer to the book, and more complex because of that. I'd say the movie was even better than the book...

Well all of that is subjective, I’m just saying I didn’t like the swedish version not because of subtitles but because of the movie itself.
Ok. I haven’t seen the american film and I don’t really want to. I did like the swedish film and love the book. Have you read the book?

American publishers probably think that title wouldn’t sell very well to the general public. “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” sounds much sexier. “Men Who Hate Women” just sounds brutal. Which it is, but they have to soften the blow.

Well, it was good enough for the publishers in Sweden and in most other countries. The Germans call it...

because it’s too honest.
Yeah, I fail to see why that should be a problem.

Has nothing to do with it being in a different language, but to do with the fact that it was a mediocre adaptation of the book.
Do you mean the english translation of the book was a mediocre adaptation?
